Kincardine Environmental Action Network Posts Water Quality Concerns
Did you know that water quality has become a major concern in recent years along the southern shores of Lake Huron?
Read more about the sources and culprits of this pollution here: https://www.lakehuron.ca/non-point-source-pollution
Here's what you can do to help:
Proper Waste Disposal: Never pour household cleaners, oil, paint, or pharmaceuticals down drains or toilets.
Return medications to a pharmacy, dispose of household hazardous materials on hazardous waste day- May 9 and July 11 from 8am-1pm in Kincardine (https://www.brucecounty.on.ca/.../2026%20Hazardous...)
Responsible Cleaning: Use cleaning products with natural ingredients to reduce the load of synthetic chemicals entering the water system and to avoid harm to local waterways, aquatic life, and groundwater. If buying commercial products, look for brands that prioritize biodegradable, plant-based formulas free from phosphates, parabens, and chlorine.
Responsible Gardening: Minimize the use of fertilizers and pesticides. Opt for natural alternatives and apply them sparingly to prevent runoff.Pet Waste: Pick up pet waste immediately and dispose of it in the trash to prevent bacteria from entering storm drains.
Septic System Maintenance: Have septic tanks inspected and pumped every 3 to 5 years, and avoid planting trees over pipes.
Vehicle Care: Wash cars on grass instead of pavement, and clean up oil or antifreeze spills immediately without hosing them into the street.
Runoff Reduction: Install rain barrels or create rain gardens to collect runoff from roofs and driveways.

Trade the Future. The Final Four Starts Saturday.
The Final Four is set: Arizona, Michigan, UConn, and Illinois all punched their tickets. But watching the games is only half the fun — what if you could put real money behind your predictions?
Kalshi is a federally regulated exchange where you buy and sell contracts based on the outcomes of real-world events. March Madness, elections, economic data, weather — if it's happening, there's probably a market for it.
I'm placing a trade on Arizona to cut down the nets. Their balance on both ends of the floor has been unmatched all tournament. But the beauty of Kalshi is you don't have to agree with me — you just have to have a take.
Sign up now and get $10 free to place your first trade. No fees on your first deposit. Browse all available March Madness markets here.
