Update on the Lagoon Sludge Removal Project at the Kincardine wastewater lagoons:

This important maintenance project is helping restore treatment capacity and improve the long-term performance of the wastewater system. During active sludge removal, residents in surrounding areas may experience occasional odours. While unpleasant, these odours are expected and can vary depending on wind and weather conditions. Staff continue to monitor conditions through regular operational and safety procedures, and no concerns have been identified. Learn more about the project, including timelines and FAQs, on the Lagoon Sludge Removal Project webpage: www.kincardine.ca/Sludge-Removal-Project
Did You Know?

Kincardine is a former salt mine town. In 1868, salt was accidentally discovered during oil exploration, sparking a "salt rush" that turned the community into a bustling industrial port. At its peak in the 1870s, multiple salt works operated in the area, exporting thousands of barrels to Chicago and Milwaukee meat-packing plants. The iconic downtown lighthouse was built in 1880 and was used to guide ships transporting the local fishing and salt goods.
